Canada: In a heartbreaking turn of events, an Indian-origin couple along with their teenage daughter lost their lives in a tragic house fire that occurred in Ontario, Canada. The victims, identified as 51-year-old Rajiv Warikoo, his wife 47-year-old Shilpa Kotha, and their 16-year-old daughter Mahek Warikoo, were found dead in their home on Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive.
The incident, which took place on March 7, has left the community in shock and raised suspicions due to the circumstances surrounding the fire. Although initially reported as a residential fire, authorities have deemed the fire as “suspicious” following preliminary investigations.
Constable Taryn Young of Peel Police described the situation as concerning, stating, “At this time, we are investigating this with our homicide bureau, and we are deeming this as suspicious as the Ontario Fire Marshal has deemed that this fire was not accidental.”
Eyewitnesses recounted hearing a loud explosion before the fire engulfed the residence, adding to the perplexity of the situation. Kenneth Yousaf, a neighbor, vividly described the distressing moment when the house was ablaze, leaving everything reduced to ashes within hours.
